You’re probably grieving and you’re immersed in this feeling of loss. Maybe you’re transitioning and inspiration doesn’t feel like a priority right now.
It’s okay to take your time and it’s okay to feel lost and in despair. If it feels like you’re starting over and, it all feels a bit too much, you’re allowed to go at your own pace. You’re allowed to pause multiple times and you’re allowed to be gentle with yourself. Maybe this is also a way that life trying to inspire you, but gently and delicately.
Inspiration is not just about action, its also found in silence, slowness, stillness. Sometimes it’s a life changing feeling and sometimes its very momentary. Inspiration can be found in the most unexpected places and in hush tones. To feel inspirated you need to let go of the noise, let go of distractions and take a lot of brief moments to pause and just be. Inspiration is not just to create something but it also can encourage you to live more mindfully and not simply exist.
Inspiration sometimes can leave a huge impact on you and sometimes it’s very subtle.
Listen more – Observing sounds and noises around you, sometimes even paying attention to words can inspire you. Listening can help you decipher all that is not seen and heard but has a deep impact in your life. Even the silence has something to say. These sounds can take a little more time to be understood but their impact in helping you feel inspired is truly worth noting.
Practice stillness – Not everything needs to be action oriented. You don’t always need to be doing something or the other. A little time doing nothing can help strengthen your perspective and help you process things that your busy mind otherwise may find it difficult to process. Stillness is about taking it all in without meaning to or without trying to. Stillness is not a waste of time or energy but its about reserving your energy so that you can allow inspiration to fill empty spaces.
Archive your ideas – Some ideas or thoughts are big and stay with you for a long time and you want to work on it right away but some ideas can easily be forgotten or even left out because they don’t seem important enough. It always helps to scribble it down and make a note of it as a way to archive it for some other time. These ideas that are jotted down tend to inspire you when you’re seeking inspiration. Sometimes you might want to work on said idea or that idea might inspire you to try something similar.
Distract your mind – Inspiration often strikes when you don’t really seek it or when you least expect it. That’s why it’s really important to know and understand when and how to distract your mind just enough. Ruminating or overthinking can also tend to cause a lot of disturbance and that can cause creative blocks. Distracting your mind can help you overcome those blocks subconsciously which can often help in getting inspired.
Meet/have a conversation with people – it’s very interesting to see the viewpoints that most people tend to have in their lives which can be very inspiring. Each opinion can serve as a message, guidance, direction or even insight into what you think and feel about certain things, people and events in your life. This doesn’t necessarily have to be positive or right or being judgemental but even a small difference of opinion can be very inspiring and give you a lot of insight.
Inspiration in this context is not just limited to creating something but also life in general. You need something to keep you inspired to be able to experience your life instead of merely living it or merely existing. Everyday something or the other tends to inspire you in ways that can change your mindset, thought, choices and so much more.
Small or short moments of inspiration can have long lasting effects, especially when life feels overwhelming or overstimulated. It can help give your life a direction and encourage you to be more mindful.
