There is something really magical about looking forward to something in our lives. Even if it is something small. It fills our hearts with joy and our bodies release happy chemicals. Even in nervousness, there is excitement most of the time. Our bodies usually have an awareness about how it’s feeling and our bodies are always communicating with us. Telling us to do more of what makes us come alive. What we can look forward to.
Even though the sun rises each day, there are still some parts of the world where darkness envelops for a longer period of time and there’s nothing to look forward to in that darkness, but people have learned to adapt in that darkness, they have learned to prepare themselves for the darkness, they have also learned to find a way to be excited about it. Sometimes, it can take a lot longer to get used to change and find enthusiasm in the newness. They have learned by making mistakes and they have learned by looking at small progress. And when the sun shines again in your parts of the world, they feel that the darkness was also worth it so the sun can be embraced with delight, gratitude and love.
Even in the most darkest phases of our lives, our bodies often remind us that there is something to look forward to, even if it’s not what we expect or want. That feeling of excitement is still there. It’s slowly trying to crawl to the darkest places in your heart and works as the light that you want to see. The light that gives you hope and brings a smile to your face.
Reaching rock bottom can make us feel as if we’ll never rise again. We’ll never be able to find anything to be happy about or anything that makes our lives worthwhile, in those moments I hope you remember that just existing can sometimes also be very exciting. It’s a miracle to be alive in those tender moments of darkness. I hope you remember that surviving can also be your body and your mind reaching out slowly to talk to you, to tell you that you aren’t alone, that there is still a lot to look forward to but for now, breathing is more than enough. Taking it one day at a time is all the excitement that you need.
Its okay to not be able to recognize that in the face of anxiety, stress, and overthinking. It’s natural to feel impossible to feel excited about anything. In those truly difficult times, I hope you remember to find your energy in being patient, gentle and kind to yourself. Even if you cant see hope in those moments its okay to believe in a better tomorrow, its okay to feel discouraged and disappointed, its okay if you feel you’re never going to be able to see a better tomorrow. It’s a slow process and it can sometimes take a long time to find movement from feeling helpless.
